This site started in the spring of 2004 to create a web presence for the writings of Kemal Faruquee. That would be me. : ) It represents a small sample of my work. I also write novels, stories, essays, screenplays, etc.

As of right now...the beginning of August 2008, I'm redoing the site. I do that every couple years...so, at the moment things are a bit in transition.

I have two books of poetry available: Naive Lip and The Uptake of the Disappointment Concept. Those books took me a long time to write, and, I hope you like them. There are plenty of samples from each book on this website.

If you're a repeat visitor to this site, please take note that I've added a large amount of my work since probably the last time you were here. Scroll to this page's bottom, and, you'll see it under the red text. I categorized it by genre.

I've added a bunch of poems that, over the years, my readers told me have meant the most to them: poems like Love Poem Composed During Daytime Nap, The Clown's Sentiment, You, You, A Eunuch Stutters, A Dream Concerning A Crocodile's Hunger, Napoleon Finds Elba, Swing For The Cut!, School Bus Drives Past Urban Park, The Hinge, Betrayal In Winter, The History of the Cuckold, and Charlie Chaplin's Dead.

I'm also adding a bunch of the cat poems I've written: so, for the ailurophiles out there...rejoice! lolz ... and, I'm adding my love poems to the internet also. I'm basically for the first time making a ton of my work available for free on the internet!!

I also founded an artists' and writers' forum in 2005 called Artplop. The purpose was to provide a positive outlet for artists and writers of all skill levels to share work without fear of harsh criticism. It's been an interesting experiment, and, I've mainly concluded that the world has a whole lot more interest in Britney Spears than it has in poems and watercolors and tripped-out digital paintings. But, I still maintain that art is for everyone, and, the salubrious effects of creativity seem to frequently be missed due to an emphasis on results and talent.

I'm currently working on some children's books and a few other books that I've just been writing forever. I don't like to publish anything prematurely.

If you're looking for a way to get some great books cheap, I set up an easy link to poetry and literature auctions on eBay. The other best way I know of to get excellent prices on books is through Amazon.com.
